Butter Silos

Rothenburg butter silos, with their unique shape and processing, have become indispensable in modern dairies. The cambered shape also has a crucial benefit. Due to the curved shape, the butter roll has no contact with the inside of the silo wall, which ensures optimal hygiene and reduces energy consumption. The pronounced pressure tunnel provides a reliable product supply to the connected pumps, helping prevent cavitation and air pockets. The volume depends on the capacity of the butter-making machine or the packaging machine and should be 40 – 50% of the hourly capacity. Silo sizes from 500kg to 10t are among our standard delivery range.

  • All silos are manufactured to USDA sanitation standards
  • Large diameter augers running at slow speeds controlled by a single VFD ensure gentle butter treatment.
  • The standard material is 304SS; for salted butter, we recommend 316. Welding seams are passivated and ground, the outside finish is glass-beaded, and the inside surfaces are shot-blasted to minimize butter sticking.
  • Up to six feed pumps with different capacities can be connected to the pressure tunnel.
  • Rothenburg Butter Silos are designed for CIP cleaning and come equipped with spray balls in the silo body and the pressure tunnel.
